Thai Brasserie is located on Beeches Walk in Sutton Coldfield, and has a sister venue over in Little Aston as well as a more recent opening over on the Coventry Road near Meriden. I first went here with a good friend last year on a weeknight and found the food to be pretty good, although less so when I visited the Little Aston branch not long after. Last Friday provided an opportunity to try it out again with my husband in tow this time.
We decided on a few starters to share – the Prawn Dumplings, Chicken in Pandan Leaf and Chicken Satay. The dumplings were excellent and came with a sticky sweet soy dipping sauce, and the chicken satay lovely and tender and juicy, again with an excellent peanut sauce. I was slightly less keen on the chicken wrapped in Pandan Leaf – there didn’t seem too much to them really, and they were a little bland.
For our mains, again we ordered to share; A Stir Fried Chicken in Sweet & Spicy Sauce, a Chicken Pad Thai, a Beef Yum Thai Salad and some sticky rice.
The Yum Salad was superb – the dressing so spicy and sour, I loved it. The Sweet and Spicy chicken was packed full of Veg and the Sauce quite like a sweet and sour, rather than spicy, but I couldn’t complain, it was very good. The Pad Thai was again excellent and Lee thought it was one of the better ones he’s had, I felt it lacked a bit of sharpness and I could have done with a lime to squeeze all over it!
Service was really pleasant, and the food came out of the kitchen in good time, despite the amount of people coming in to pick up takeaways. All this food plus 2 beers and 2 soft drinks came to £51. Not the cheapest, but its not going to break the bank either.
All in all a very good Thai meal – not bad for the suburbs of Sutton!
